Friday night, the Sibley-Ocheyedan Athletic Booster Club hosted an outdoor movie at the football field headed up by Travis Tenaple. On Saturday, I screen grabbed stills from Mitchell Ackerman's web cam, www.OurCityCam.com for the parade, as we weren't able to be there. But we did watch virtually. We did make it back for the afternoon activities as you will see. Thanks for watching.

    Great drone footage Dave and that large puddle made for a perfect floats plane landing strip. Not sure if your radio will like the rain as they are not water proof. Hopefully the Mini 4 Pro has better water sealing than the Parrot Bebop 2 drone which I had years ago and after flying in very light drizzle it lasted for about 6 months then fell out of the sky. Had corrosion on the mainboard.

    Many ghosts. Poltergeist and spirits on this highway I know because I've experienced it on many occasions but only when it's dark. My experiences from 1979 through 1996. Almost crashed more than a few times because of the shocks of paranormal activity bad enough to affect driving. So I never went back there again after 1996.

    Hi Dave, thanks for your video but to correct you on one point: the equipment you described at the beginning was an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scanner not a CAT scanner. I am a retired healthcare scientist who worked in radiation therapy for over 30 years. I currently have stage 3 prostate cancer. I live in the UK. As part of my diagnosis I had a nuclear medicine bone scan, a CAT scan and an MRI scan (in that order). The bone scan checked for spread to the bones (no conclusive evidence). The CAT scan checked for spread to the seminal area (some suggestion of spread). The two scans involve the use of ionising radiation. The MRI scan produced a scan of the prostate (showing two masses). This scan involves no radiation but utilises strong magnetic fields to produce an image (and is very noisy). Finally, I had the prostate biopsy. At this point my PSA was 65.9. All these procedures enabled a calculation of the Gleason score and staging. At that point I started hormone therapy. I am still waiting to undergo radiation therapy. Thanks for sharing your experiences. Best wishes.

    You might have missed it, but they gave him a little plastic ring to hold onto on top of his chest as a comfortable way to hold your arms. I suggested to a place that the arm position was very similar to holding a game controller. So, they could perhaps put virtual reality goggles on you and have you hold a game controller. A fun way to pass the time. (Although nowadays it isn't very much time - it used to me much longer.).

    If you look closely, you will see that the initial rotation to just do imaging is very smooth. But when radiating, slightly less smooth with some very slight hesitations. This is because two things are happening at once. One is that a number of vanes (little flat plates that are individually servo controlled) are moving in and out to shape the beam to conform to the shape of the cancer. This shape changes as the view changes. The other is, of course, the head rotation. The rotation can't proceed until those vanes are in position. If the vanes are not quite yet at the new position for the next location in the degrees of rotation of the head, the head has to wait. And the result is those slight hesitations.

    The genesis of this sort of technology goes back to 1937 when the brothers Russell and Sigurd Varian invented the Klystron. They were located in Halcyon, CA at the time, just south of San Luis Obispo. This was a breakthrough invention that could deliver microwave energy at very high power levels. They founded Varian Associates which was one of the very first companies to locate in what is now known as "Silicon Valley." Varian Associates was acquired at some point by the Siemens Healthineers Division. (Yse, "Healthineers" like Walt Disney named it.) In machines like the TrueBeam, a klystron generates electrons, the electrons are then made to go nearly the speed of light in a linear accelerator. The electron beam is bent by magnets to aim at a metal plate in the head and this produces X-rays (photons). Then various shaping of that beam occurs. They can also deliver a beam of electrons if they want.

  • @trainliker100
    @trainliker100 3 дні тому

    Typically, it is NOT a "pinpoint" beam but rather a shaped beam. The equipment has a number of vanes that move in and out during the application of radiation to produce a beam with a cross section matching the instantaneous view of the shape of the cancer. Of course, from different angles as the machine rotates, the cross-sectional shape of the cancer changes and the vanes adjust. Most of the animations you see on UA-cam just show a "beam", but a few take the trouble to show it is a shaped beam, not pinpoint.

  • @trainliker100
    @trainliker100 3 дні тому

    For me, all they had me do was lie down, pull my pants down and shirt up. Then they put a little sheet of paper over "that area" for modesty. That amused me since the Varian TrueBeam has a world class imaging system and they can see everything in spectacular detail.

    You were probably thinking about the biopsy when the subject of inserting the gold seeds came up. It is trivial compared to a biopsy. It takes almost no time at all, and you feel almost nothing. Zero side effects. I would STRONGLY urge people not to skip this step.
